Peaceful Communication Workshop

When: March 3, 2012 Saturday (Snow date, Saturday 3/10/12, same time frame)
Time: 1:00 pm until 4:30 pm

* Please plan to arrive about 15 minutes early so we may begin on time.

Where: Changepoint Church, Cafe downstairs

Parking lot is located across the street, corner of Barclay Street and South Hamilton Street. Street parking is also an option, but please read the signs very carefully!

Workshop Description:

Got the winter blues? Feeling the need to get out and about due to having cabin fever? Did you set a new year's resolution to become a better communicator? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, coming out to attend a communication workshop to have a little fun and learn something useful that will benefit yourself and those you care about the most.

Give yourself a valentine's day treat! Invest in yourself, increase your own learning that will benefit you personally and professionally - both at home and in the workplace. Being able to communicate with yourself to identify feelings and needs is vital so we understand the emotions we experience. Beling able to communicate with others is crucial since we are all a part of communities (home, work, volunteer groups etc.) whether we like it or not.

This is an introduction to Nonviolent Communication techniques as developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, from my unique perspective as a certified NY state teacher, volunteer mediator, and experiential educator.

How to register:

Pre-registration is required by Monday, Feb. 27, 2012. Minimum of 4 people are needed to run the workshop. If the workshop is canceled by the facilitator due to low enrollment or an emergency, your money will be fully refunded. Cost is $65 and special rate of $45 is gladly extended to students/interns/senior citizens.

To register, make your check payable to "Edgewood Consulting & Services" with memo line saying "PC Workshop 3-3-12" and mail to Edgewood Consulting & Services, PO Box 122, New Paltz, NY 12561 along with a signed Acknowledgement of Risk form. Form to be signed can be found on the business website "forms" page. Remember to print your name legibly on the top of the form in the space provided. Form is required for insurance purposes, thanks for your understanding.

Yes, you can gather with those you know (family, friends, or work colleagues) and register all together and save some money (25% discount). It is my way of trying to help folks in this difficult economy and encourage you to come because I think this workshop is truly valuable.

To register as a group, please collect all signed forms and payment from everyone in your group ($48.75 each), then mail all signed forms with one check for $195 and a note listing the names of all 4 people being registered together. Of course larger groups of 8, 12 people etc. are certainly also welcome to take advantage of the group savings offering.

Note, if registering as a group and someone needs to back out last minute, you will be expected to find a suitable replacement to take that person's place. No partial refund will be given since the group discount was already given.

Learn to look into the heart of matters, when dealing with yourself and other people, without judgment or criticism. Learn to identify true feelings and needs and how to get your needs better met so your life is more harmonious and in line with your values.

Teambuilding Activities for Educators Workshop

Teambuilding for Educators: learn teambuilding activities that require no or minimal props! Great for per-diem teambuilding facilitators, teachers, boy scout/girl scout leaders, anyone who works with youth groups. 4.5 hours of activity, learning, and fun.

It is a great workshop for folks wishing to review teambuilding exercise they already know or to learn new activities you can use within your own program or classroom to build community. This is an excellent workshop for new teambuilders and public and private classroom teachers. Offered last April 2011 at the Association for Experiential Education’s northeast regional conference held in Becket, MA, this workshop received very positive reviews from participants; so I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. The workshop will be run experientially! Come dressed comfortably with good footwear (sneakers or boots) for moving around. This workshop will be a mixture of inside and outside. Hope you can come!

Starts January 14, 2010 and runs for 3 Thursdays, 7 – 9 pm.
Snow date makeup held Feb. 4 if needed.
